From Computer Nerd to Navy Recruit: My Son’s Journey Begins
Last night, my son finally made it to the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) in Nashville, TN. It was his first night as an official Navy recruit, and soon he’ll be on his way to the Navy station in the Great Lakes area. It feels surreal—one moment he was here with me, my computer nerd buddy, and now he’s beginning this incredible journey.
I’ll admit, I went into his room a few times last night, already missing the conversations we used to have, the hours we spent tinkering with computers, and his presence in general. It’s a weird feeling to know that he’s stepping into a whole new chapter of life, one filled with challenges, growth, and service to his country.
But I’m so proud of him. This is more than just a career path—it’s a calling. He’s choosing a life that’s bigger than himself, and I can’t help but admire his bravery and determination. He’s heading off into a world that will push him beyond what he’s ever known, but I have no doubt he’s ready for it.
Though it’s tough knowing my son is leaving, I’m filled with pride and excitement for what’s to come in his life. This is his time now, and I can’t wait to see the man he becomes.
