Why Unreliable Clients Have Diminished My Passion for Photography
From Passion to Frustration: Why I No Longer Love Shooting with People
There was a time when shooting with people was my passion. I loved the creative collaboration, the energy, and the unique outcomes that came from each session. Capturing someone’s personality and translating it into an image was incredibly fulfilling. But lately, that passion has started to fade, replaced by frustration and disappointment.
It’s not the art of photography that’s changed—it’s the people. The joy of creating has been overshadowed by the constant struggle of dealing with unreliable clients. It’s become all too common for people to show up late, if they show up at all. Even worse, many don’t bother to communicate when plans change. They fail to cancel or reschedule, leaving me waiting and wasting valuable time that could have been spent elsewhere.
This lack of respect for my time has taken a toll on my enthusiasm. Photography is supposed to be a partnership, a shared experience. But when that trust is broken repeatedly, it’s hard to keep the passion alive.
I still love photography, but I’ve become much more selective about who I choose to work with. If someone doesn’t value my time and commitment, I no longer feel the need to extend mine. It’s a tough decision, but sometimes, protecting your passion means setting boundaries.
