Waiting for a Call from Navy Boot Camp and Staying Connected with My Son
It’s been about a week since my son started Navy boot camp, and while I know this journey is going to shape him in ways beyond imagination, it’s tough not hearing from him. Just the other day, I received a text message from my ex-wife, asking if I had heard anything from him. As I told her, he’ll be able to make a phone call around the third week mark, but until then, the silence is part of the process.
What brings me some peace is knowing he can write us anytime. I made sure he left with more than enough stamps, a notepad, and envelopes so he can stay connected. Hopefully, in between his intense training and new responsibilities, he’ll find a moment to sit down and put pen to paper. For now, we wait, as parents do, eager for those small windows into his new world.
